Start to Tour Countries in Golden Pavillion (luxury world cruises) Temple of Japan

By Mitchel Alvane Regis

One of the greatest things you could do this life is to tour countries. And if you are an avid fan of Zen, the Golden Pavillion Temple must be included in your itinerary.

This temple was built in 1397 to serve as a retirement lodge for Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, as division of his estate known then as Kitayama. It was his son who transformed the edifice into a Zen sanctuary of the school of Rinzai. The temple was burned down twice during the Nin War.

The Golden Pavillion, or Kinkaku, is a building with three stories on the grounds of the temple. The pavillion’s top two stories are shrouded with authentic gold leaf. The pavilion also functions as a shariden, housing remnants of Buddha (Buddha’s Ashes). And the edifice is frequently contrasted or linked the Silver Pavillion Temple, the Ginkaku-ji, which is located also in Kyoto.

Golden Pavillion is placed in a marvelous (Kaiy-shiki) Japanese strolling garden. The pond in the facade is called Kyko-chi (Mirror Pond). And there are many islands and stones on the pond that signify the Buddhist creation story.

In the year 1950, the pavillion was burned down by a monk, who then attempted to end his life on Daimon-ji hill that is behind the building. He survived, but during the investigation after the arrest of the monk, his mother called in to talk with the police; on her way home, she ended her life by jumping from her train to a river valley.

That monk was sentenced to seven years in prison; he pass away because of an illness during his incarceration in 1956. At that historical moment, the Ashikaga Yoshimitsu statue was burned down. A fictional account of those occurences is at the center of Yukio Mishima’s 1956 book The Temple of the Golden Pavillion.

Wedding Dress Box - The boring essential

By Gary Trotter

For many brides their wedding dress is the most costly, precious and wonderful dress they will ever wear. It also holds a thousand happy memories of the very special day that they marry their soul partner. Many brides also want to conserve their wedding dress so that they retain the option of passing the gown down to their (potential) daughters in time. Therefore if you want to keep your wedding dress in tip top condition then you need to think carefully about how it is perserved.

The storage of the wedding dress is of massive importance because an incorrectly stored dress can be pulled from storage only to find it is ruined by the storage box itself. Don’t damage an expensive wedding dress for the sake of a cheap but appropriate storage box!

It can feel rather mundane to consider the wedding storage box in which your wedding dress is finally stored but it is important never the less. Many wedding dresses are left in the plastic holder in which the wedding dress was originally stored prior to purchase without a essential clean after the wedding. Unfortunately neglect such as this can often has damaging consequences in terms of the dress itself.

If you do not properly clean the wedding dress after use then any stains have a chance to oxidize. There are both invisible and visable stains both of which if left unattended will cause damaging discoloration over time and can cause structural damage to the wedding dress. Your wedding dress should therefore be cleaned as soon as possible after the wedding to make sure it is preserved in tip top condition.

Many people, incorrectly, believe that leaving your wedding dress in the plastic cover that it came in is enough. However there are extremely harmful fumes that are given off from the plastic cover over longer periods of time and these damaging chemicals will cause a wedding dress to yellow.

To appropriately protect your wedding dress you need to clean it soon after use and store it in an ph-neutral storage box wrapped in acid-free tissue paper.
